I am a self-taught painter based in Jacksonville. I believe in using art to reawaken and cultivate a sense of appreciation in our lives and our spaces. Art is therapeutic and special. It allows us to transport ourselves to tap into energies, emotions, and memories we might not otherwise be able to process or express. It also allows us to live in the moment. I love that people are drawn to my art for different reasons and become connected through it.
I have always been drawn to the unconventional. My style of artwork reflects the emotional and spiritual side of my mind I often found difficult to articulate. Style-wise it's like surrealism, expressionism, and realism come together. I love to express myself with a fun, flowy, and free spirited application of whatever medium I am working with. I am happiest when I am creating. Portraits are some of my favorite subjects- I have a thing for faces. My work has been featured in showings and gallery events in Jacksonville.
At a young age, my grandmother gifted me my first sketchbook and I would spend hours alone in my room drawing after school. My grandaunt was a painter and my father wrote and performed music and dabbled in illustration… so I guess you could say this art thing has always had its grip on me. I moved around a lot growing up. I ultimately graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with my Bachelor’s degree. In 2016, I left Nebraska and moved to Florida for my job in the Finance/Insurance industry. At that time, I began experimenting more with watercolors & acrylics. I then went on to pursue and graduate with my MBA in 2018 from Florida State University. I was painting, working full time, and a graduate student. Once I graduated, I took breaks from painting to focus on work but it's always found its way back to me.
I love calling Florida home and spending time with my dogs. When I am not painting, I like to learn, read, travel, workout, and spend time with my friends and family. I enjoy playing sports (although I don't watch them) as well as hiking, kayaking, and cycling. I have a bit of a morbid curiosity and I prefer to watch science and psychology-based documentaries. I'm a Capricorn and what some would call an "extroverted-introvert."
